In response to Culkin's video, Daniel Stern appeared in a short video reprising his role as Marv, released in conjunction with Stern's Reddit AMA, where he pleads for Harry to return to help protect him against Kevin's traps. Daniel Stern was cast as Marv, but before shooting started, he was told that the production schedule had been extended from six weeks to eight. He dropped out after as he would not be paid more for the extended schedule. Daniel Roebuck was hired to replace him, but after two days of rehearsal, Columbus felt he was lacking chemistry with Pesci and brought back Stern.
The last Funko Christmas Moment sees Buddy the Elf starting his brave journey to New York to meet his Dad. Buddy is on a block of ice waving an emotional goodbye to his animal friends Mr. Narwhal, Arctic Puffin, and Polar Bear Cub. Like the Christmas Vacation moment, you can just hear the scene play out just by looking at this insanely cute Pop with lines like “Bye Buddy, I hope you find your Dad” having become quite memorable. Fans of the sitcom were quick to notice that the street views seen through the windows of the fictional couple’s New York suburb home looked eerily like the Home Alone house. Reportedly, one fan included the Abendshien daughter, who recognized the views from the Geller-Bing household as the ones she was seeing from her own house. The Home Alone house is located in Winnetka, Illinois, about 16 miles outside of the Windy City, and most of the film was shot in that area.

The film takes place in the fictional town of Shermer, Illinois. Ferris Bueller from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Samantha Baker from Sixteen Candles and John Bender and all his detention mates from Breakfast Club. Hughes returned time and time again to the North Shore area of Illinois for his films; he thought of all his characters as living in the same universe, but Shermer was special. Kevin's mother Kate (Catherine O'Hara), upon realizing that she and the family have become separated from Kevin, frantically tries to find Kevin. On December 19, 2018, Culkin would once again reprise his role as an adult Kevin McCallister in a 60-second advertisement for Google Assistant, titled Home Alone Again. The commercial contains shot for shot remakes of scenes from the film. Google Assistant helps Kevin set up the house to look active by remotely turning on lights, devices, and setting up cutouts of people, to have the thieves parked in a van outside steer clear of the house. Additionally, Joe Pesci also reprised his role as Harry, only for his voice making a small cameo. Pesci later appeared in another ad where he watches the short with his friends and jokes about his brief cameo.
Numerous board games were also released, some based around play cards, while another was a close emulation of the classic Mouse Trap. As the film became popular, people started to park nearby and snap pictures. There’s a scene in the film where Kevin tells “Santa” that he lives at 671 Lincoln Boulevard, the home's actual address (although it's technically 671 Lincoln Avenue); it was easy enough to find from there. Looks like someone can eat junk food and watch rubbish in the actual “Home Alone” house just like Kevin McCallister did in the holiday classic film. A sixth film was released digitally on Disney+ on November 12, 2021, titled Home Sweet Home Alone.

Jack went to leave, but Kevin told him to stay, and Kevin proceeded to torture the car jacker who he believed was a home invader, dancing around in the car jacker's blood and acting deranged.
He was paid only $414, since he did the film as a favor to Hughes. In return, he was the only actor Hughes allowed to go off-script; according to Columbus, all his dialogue was improvised. Hughes had asked Patrick Read Johnson to direct, but he was committed to directing Spaced Invaders.
On Christmas Eve, Kevin overhears Harry and Marv discussing plans for breaking into his house that night. After conversing with a Santa Claus impersonator and watching a local choir perform in a church, he comes across Marley. The two of them talk, and he learns that Marley is in fact a very nice man and the rumors about him are not true. He tells Kevin he is watching the choir because his granddaughter is in it, and he never gets to see her because he and his son have not spoken in years after a big argument they had. A STAR of one of the most iconic Christmas films of all time looks worlds apart from her iconic childhood role 33 years later. In the 2006 PS2 video game Home Alone, Kevin is one of four playable characters.
